We have an active and expanding programme for youth and children, including mid-week groups for secondary school ages and a Friday evening club for primary school children. We regularly hold an ‘after-church’ on Sunday evenings for 14+ in addition to a Sunday morning programme for all ages. We enjoy events like Soul Survivor Summer camp and wherever we can we will include the young people in the activities of the church, for example we have a youth band who lead most Sunday evenings. We will also put on events from time to time like holiday clubs and mini ‘Soul Survivor’ type conferences in Guernsey.
Chrissy Salmon oversees all our youth and children's work and can answer questions you may have. The following will give you a guide:
5-Alive youth club for 5 to 11 year olds meets on Friday evenings, 6.30pm to 8pm. This is a fun time with games, craft, sports and talks.
Mid week youth housegroups meet for 11-15 yr olds and 16 to 18s. These are a good opportunity to meet to discuss, pray, learn and have fun too. These groups are led by Chrissy and her husband Martin (11-15s) and by two of our Deacons - Anique & D'Arcy Nicolle (16-18s)
Sunday Mornings. We have an active programme across a wide age range, with creche, Tots Zone (ages 2 to reception), Mini Zone (reception to year 2), Kids Zone (year 3 to year 6) and a Bible class for years 7 and 8 together. These groups all meet together from the start of the service in the morning, having their own time of worship. We have also established a youth church for Sunday mornings for years 9 to 13, which meets after worship in the main church.
Sunday Evenings. Our cafe church style aims to be youth-friendly (whilst not exclusively for youth). We also have after-church specifically for young people (14yrs plus) every other week. These are usually quite social.
Summer 2010
We have an exciting plan for August, with a 'Superhero school' on Sunday mornings for the younger group and a churches-together after church each week (except 15th August). A warehouse has been made available to us for August just down the road from church, giving us an excellent opportunity to put on a special programme. Superhero school runs from 10.30 to 12.15 (giving parents/guardians opportunity to get to church!).
The afterchurch runs from 8pm until about 9.30pm, including guests such as Charlie Lacey (ex forces, now works for Alpha International and Alpha for Forces) and a street dance team from a London inner-city church.
On Sunday 15th August, the warehouse is not available, however most of our teenagers will be at Soul Survivor.
